Os autores analisaram as incidências da prematuridade, baixo peso, atraso de crescimento intra-uterino e morbilidade, comparando-as com as dos restantes nados-vivos no mesmo período. Concluíram que somente a prematuridade foi significativamente mais frequente com o aumento da idade materna. From 1994 to 1998, 13366 babies were born at São Teotónio Hospital-Viseu and 9,7% (1302) of the mothers were aged 35 years or older. The authors reviewed the preterm delivery, intrauterine growth retardation, low birth weight incidences and morbidity and correlated them.
