Os autores descrevem um caso clínico de parotidite neonatal, uma patologia infecciosa rara e ainda pouco descrita na literatura, caracterizada pela tríade tumefacção parotídea, sinais inflamatórios cutâneos e saída de pús pelo canal de Stensen. No presente caso foi identificado como agente causal um Streptococcus do grupo B, evidenciando uma forma de apresentação rara deste agente, o mais frequente em infecções bacterianas perinatais nos países desenvolvidos. ABSTRACT The authors report a case of neonatal parotitis, a rare infectious disease with few reports in the literature, characterized by the triad: enlargement of the parotid gland, inflamatory signs of the overlying skin and purulent discharge from the Stensen’s duct. In the reported case the etiologic agent was group B Streptococcus, representing a rare presentation of the most frequent perinatal bacterial infeccion in developed countries.
