| dc.description.abstract | Embora a inseminação artificial com recurso a dador tenha tido início em finais do século XIX, nos séculos seguintes a procriação medicamente assistida rapidamente se tornou um recurso importante para os casais estéreis que desejem ter filhos, sobretudo aqueles que querem prevenir a transmissão de doença hereditária grave. A dação de gâmetas masculinos e femininos é precedida da selecção de dadores, com vista a excluir os que ofereçam um risco de transmissão elevado, sendo de difícil escolha, em muitas situações práticas, quais os dadores mais “sãos”, que poderão garantir a melhor “qualidade genética”. As decisões a tomar deverão ter em conta a Lei sobre Procriação Medicamente Assistida Portuguesa, nomeadamente o n.º 1 do artigo 10.º, sob pena de serem opções que sejam ofensivas da dignidade humana do nascituro gerado através do recurso a dação de gâmetas masculinos ou femininos. ABSTRACT Although artificial insemination using donor sperm started at the end of the nineteenth century, in the XXth century medically assisted procriation has rapidly become a vital resource, not only for infertile couples who desire to have children but also for couples who wish to avoid the transmission of some hereditary diseases. Donation of male and female gametes is preceded by selection from potential donors, in order to exclude those donors in which there is an elevated risk of transmission of this type of disease. This may be a difficult choice in many practical situations, to select more “healthy” donors and therefore ensure the best “genetic quality”. These decisions have to take account of the Medically Assisted Procriation Law in Portugal, specifically point number 1 of article 10, as these options may be offensive to the human dignity of the newborn, generated through recourse to donated male or female gametes. | por |
