RESUMO Este artigo propõe uma reflexão
sobre o tema da liberdade e responsabilidade,
como princípios capazes de
sustentar o comprometimento do respeito
pela vida, tanto das presentes, como
das futuras gerações, sendo necessário,
doravante, pensá-lo na dimensão
de uma profunda temporalidade. É isso
que se nos apresenta como um desafio à
bioética, enquanto uma ética da vida, na
medida em que o poder de interferência
e manipulação de seres humanos se tem
tornado, com os avanços técnico-científicos, cada vez mais intenso e real.
ABSTRACT This article offers some reflections on the themes of freedom and responsibility. These principles must be able to support commitment to respect for life, both in the present and in future generations. It will be necessary from now on to think of these in terms of temporal evolution. This presents increasingly real and intense challenges in the ethics of life, since scientific and technical advancements have given the power and perhaps the will to interfere and manipulate the human being.
